"I love all trees, but I am in love with pines." Aldo Leopold

Between every two pines
is a doorway to a new world.
-John Muir

I never saw a discontented tree.
They grip the ground as though they liked it..."
-John Muir

The tree is more than first a seed, then a stem,
then a living trunk, and then dead timber.
The tree is a slow, enduring force
straining to win the sky.
-Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

The true meaning of life is to plant trees,
under whose shade you do not expect to sit.
-Nelson Henderson

If I knew I should die tomorrow,
I would plant a tree today.
-Stephen Girard

Having grown up in Illinois, you come to appreciate the pine forest. You learn to equate pines with vacations, clear babbling streams, clean air, and wildlife. You are taken to the north woods or mountains every time you smell them.
